BARISTA ROLE
We are looking for an engaging, courteous barista who is passionate about coffee preparation and education.
The barista will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of coffee quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.
To succeed as a barista, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.
Some of the responsibilities of the barista are to:

Greet customers as they enter

Assist customers with drink menus and answer their questions

Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)

Prepare beverages following recipes

Prepare food for serving (such as heating and displaying)

Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and pies
-
Receive and process payments (cash and cards)

Keep the bar area clean
-
Maintain stock of consumables
-
Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
-
Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs

Comply with health and safety regulations
-
Communicate customer feedback to managers
DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience in food service, bartending or general restaurant work is an asset, though not necessary depending on overall work experience.
Applicants must be 18 years or older to be considered.
Applicants must have a B.I.R and N.I.S number beforehand to be considered.
Applicants must be willing to learn, understand and appreciate the beautiful art of espresso and coffee roasting.
Applicants must be TEAM PLAYERS, our coffee shop is extremely busy and clear communication with fellow baristas is extremely important.
Applicants must submit at least 2 references from past employers.
A maximum of 5 shifts and a minimum of 4 shifts per week (including alternating weekends) are expected.
Shifts are 6 hours per day.
Competitive hourly salary
As with all new hires, the starting position will be focused on cafe upkeep and maintenance (which includes cleaning tables, collecting cups and plates and maintaining the cleanliness of our coffee shop) with a secondary focus on training for cashing, understanding our expansive coffee menu and crafting drinks.
